Baltimore (WJZ) — Kevin Gausman’s first win continues to elude him as the Baltimore Orioles fall to the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 in extra innings on Friday evening.

The Baltimore Orioles failed to give Gausman much offense to play with, a theme that has plagued the young pitcher for the majority of the season. Baltimore was held to four hits and an error on Friday.

In the bottom of the first, Josh Donaldson hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 in favor of the Toronto Blue Jays. Kevin Gausman kept them off the scoreboard for another three innings until Michael Saunders sent one deep to right field on the second pitch.

Baltimore would respond when Jonathan Schoop hit a solo shot to left centerfield to cut the deficit in half. In the fifth inning, Chris Davis hit a two-run bomb to give the Orioles the lead for the first time that night.

Trailing 3-2, Toronto’s Russell Martin hit the RBI single that would tie the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Neither team would score until the bottom of the 10th inning, when Edwin Encarnacion hit the walk-off homerun to end the game and snap the Orioles win streak.

Baltimore will look to return to their winning ways when Mike Wright (3-3 5.14 ERA) goes up against J.A. Happ (6-3 3.57 ERA) on Saturday afternoon.
